Stage Scene LA Award

Keli Price

May 24th, 2013

Price makes for a stellar Hayden, bringing to the role the striking good looks and lean muscled physique that go with his Ford model résumé, vocal skills befitting this 2010 BMI Young Songwriter Of The Year, and acting chops to match. (If only Hayden were given a bit more than a three-day time span for his 180 degree transformation from clean-cut runaway teen to greasy, grubby, drug-addicted, hard-bitten hustler.)

Seventeen year old Hayden (Keli Price) is headed to Hollywood. With a talent for lyrics and a promise from an online acquaintance who claims to be a music manager, Hayden will runaway to from his abusive step-father and alcoholic mother. He flees to Los Angeles with Luka (Rachael Page), his new girlfriend who also comes from a home life plagued with neglect and abuse. But once they land in LA, nothing is as they thought. No music manager. No money. Nowhere to go. Read More

Stage Scene LA

The Scenies are StageSceneLA’s way of recognizing the breadth and depth of talent in Southern California theater, along with pointing a spotlight on performers, directors, designers, etc., whose work deserves to be made known to the theatrical community at large.

StageSceneLA received well over 1000 review requests between the dates of September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012. Of these productions, 267 were selected for review.

This year’s Scenies are based on scores recorded at the time of each review and are presented to productions and artists receiving the highest scores.  In cases of double-cast roles or understudy performances, only those actors whose work I saw and reviewed are eligible for a Scenie.

Given the amount and level of talent in the Southern California theater scene, no limit is placed on the number of Scenies presented each year; however, to correct a popular misconception, not everyone wins a Scenie.
